The Ma Murray Awards are an opportunity to recognize the achievements of the association’s 93 member newspapers in British Columbia and Yukon. Dedicated to celebrating excellence amongst our member newspapers, we have been hosting the Ma Murray Awards for almost a century!

Like so many other things lately, this year’s Ma Murrays will look completely different. We will once again host the event virtually, but this year you can look forward to an interactive livestream of the awards presentation, where winners will receive their awards in real time, with an opportunity to make an acceptance speech! Also – in addition to the all of the regular categories, this year we want to recognize all of the incredible work you’ve done to support your communities through the pandemic, with the brand new COVID Coverage – Editorial and COVID Coverage – Advertising categories.

Usually the top three finalists in each category would be offered a complimentary ticket to attend the Gala, but since we’ll be online, this year’s finalists will be sent a special Finalists’ Celebration Kit ahead of time, full of goodies from our sponsors, to make their Ma Murray evening memorable.

More details will be forthcoming in these final weeks leading up to the event, but for now, please mark Thursday, April 29 in your calendar and plan to make a special distance-friendly evening of it with as many friends and colleagues as you can safely and permissibly gather with.
