Edgar Dunning Celebrates 100 Years with a Road Trip
Posted on July 13th, 2010 No commentsBorn in Elbow, Saskatchewan, Edgar is the BCYCNA’s first centenarian. He moved to British Columbia at the age of 12, where his father, a printer, founded the Delta Optimist in 1922. The newspaper was first housed in the Delta Hotel’s former saloon and Edgar recalls helping set type - by hand.
The quick-witted Edgar continues write a weekly newspaper column for the Delta Optimist, which he’s been writing for over 58 years.

AWNA is holding its 89th annual convention!

On September 10 - 12 The Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association is holding its 89th annual convention at the Marriott Hotel at River Cree Edmonton, Alberta. This year’s theme is “Riverboat Gamblers.” Everyone is encouraged to come dressed up on Friday night for an evening of fun and entertainment by Dixieland ensemble and Gold Dust dancers. Friday’s events do not begin there, as the afternoon will host some great seminars: Publisher’s Panel by Murray Elliott and Newspapers Have Muscle by Suzanne Raitt.
