In Praise of Newspapers

This past week, on his CBC radio show, The Vinyl Café, Stuart McLean had an interesting segment called “In Praise of Newspapers,” during which he spoke about the importance of newspapers in our society. McLean discussed how influential newspapers have been in his life, and about their ability to “stain your mind.” In other words, as we all become stained from their stories and then talk about them, we create a community; if we lack newspapers and their unifying qualities, we grow to be a society of solitudes.
